MEDIA RELEASE
 FOR IMMEDIATE USE
22 MARCH 2001GOVERNMENT GIVES PEOPLE A CHANCE TO VOICE WHAT THEY FEEL

A call for unity in action for the transformation of the Eastern Cape and South Africa will feature prominently in a week long Exco
Outreach Programme scheduled for Stutterheim and King Williams Town next week, 26 30 March 2001.

Eastern Cape Premier, Rev Makhenkesi Stofile, and his entire Executive Council will meet members of the public and stakeholders to discuss
the programme of the government as outlined in the speeches of the President, Premier and all the MECs since last month.

The leadership will address a series of imbizos and also listen to peoples unmediated concerns and aspirations. The listening campaign is
part of a new culture of communication that was introduced after 1994 and intensified when the Executive Council resolved in 1998 to more
frequent imbizo focus weeks. This year the Executive Council is scheduled to have over ten imbizo focus weeks including areas such as
Tsitsikama, Mount Frere, Ntabankulu and the Central Region.

Just to mention a few highlights of the outreach, the Premier and the MEC for Local Government, Housing and Traditional Affairs will on
Monday meet the King of Amararabe and Chiefs at the Bisho Industrial Hall while in the afternoon they will address the Mgwali community.

Kindly note that there may be changes and for your convenience and also coverage of the outreach programme contact either Manelisi at
0824147768 or Thamie at 0824147760.
